Mitzi and the book I'm writing

1 day, 11 hours, 14 minutes is when we'll be re-homing Mitzi and I can't wait! She's 3 years old and I've already fallen in love with her even though I've only seen her twice and spent 3 hours with her! I'm going to put her in the children's book I'm writing - Dogs Trust have very kindly given me permission to use them in the book and Mitzi is going to be the dog that Toni wants to rehome!

Keep an eye on my domain for updates on my Mitzi!

1 day, 11 hours and 8 minutes to go now!

Word counts - such a relief!

My book has just been saved and I've just let out a relieved sigh as I'd read that new authors aiming at 9-11 year old readers should have a 10,000 to 15,000 word count but I've just been told that I can double to triple that word count which is great news for me and the book! Yaaaaaay!

Just had to share a bit of good news with you all!

I love my husband so much!

Everyone should have a Steven (you can't have mine, he's taken! hahaha) he promises things will happen and they do... he's wonderful!

He got back from seeing the District Nurse this morning and his legs are infected again but he said that if his legs have improved enough to drive for an hour each way then we'll go and see the dogs at the Dogs Trust in Evesham at the end of the week!

I've been talking/nagging Steven about it for literally months and he hasn't said a definite no or a definite yes the whole time... he's just been saying "maybe" which hasn't dashed my hopes but hasn't given me a false positive either! Even better he hasn't been too (outwardly obvious) peed off with my almost constant requests about it either!

I'm just so lucky that we found each other all those years ago!

Laughter is infectious!

I've just read a message from Dianna about a cute piggy that she bought recently and telling us all about how her mum had seen it and started laughing which made Dianna laugh which, you guessed it, got me laughing too... I just need to find a way to get the readers of my book laughing now too!! lol

I'm a writer suffering from writer's block!!

OK, so this is my final label! I've been struggling with writers block for almost a fortnight now and it's starting to get on my nerves!! *ahem* aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I'm a chocaholic vegetarian

This is my second label... I just looooove UK chocolate!! I've been a vegetarian since I was about 11 years old (I'm 32 now) and food suitable for vegetarians has dramatically improved in the last 21 years!

It may sound silly but my life seems empty until I've had my daily "fix" of chocolate! 1 fix is 2 bowls of Coco Pops then 3 bars of chocolate for lunch then another big bar of chocolate before I hit the hay at night! Yep, totally serious!

I am a pain in the butt

This months prompt has pretty much got me running for the hills!! lol It is to come up with 3 labels for yourself and write so that the followers can get to know that bit of you too. Thing is though, I do my best not to label myself or others as I feel that can be prejudiced or something!

So there you go! Sorry!

Fostering children in the UK

Guess who! lol

Can anyone give me a brief idea of how fostering children in the UK works please??

Thursday 11 March 2010

Mystery and surprise ideas please!!

Me again!

Someone suggested that I encourage children to read my book (when it's published) by including mystery and surprise in the story but I haven't got a clue about the sorts of things I should write about to get the child reader's attention and them wanting to keep reading and stuff. If you've got any ideas (or if you know of a 9 - 11 year old you can ask) then I'd love to hear from you!! My email address is amanda.k.george@googlemail.com and put something in the subject line that will make me realise it's an idea for the book that I should read and not a group message or spam please?

Thank you!

My letter about keeping a diary/journal

Hello

Amanda here!

OK, so why is it important to keep a journal? Well, as you know, I've got a terrible memory so it helps me to remember days gone by, what I did back then and how I felt about it at the time!

I reckon it also helps you to remember things and it's a very personal thing. You can get lockable diaries which is what I used for many years then discovered online blogs and that has become my journal now!

Getting things out of your head and written down can help you relax at night and drift off to sleep. It doesn't have to be long or detailed, it just has to come out so that you can use the head-space you've just cleared for something else! hahaha

Go on, get a diary and give it a go for a few months... just be careful you don't get addicted!! lol

Renewal

This month's prompt number 1 for March was to write about renewal, so here goes!

When I wrote books as a child I was constantly renewing chapters and characters and I don't think any of the books I wrote ever got beyond the fifth chapter without me changing this or that!

What I've decided to do with this book is to finish writing it then go through it and renewing it and changing things! lol

Prompt number 2 was to imagine I am a muse and write about prompting someone to write and how I would do it which I'm finding really difficult to find the words to describe it! I've got this image in my head of what I would say and do but I can't find the words!! March has only just started so I've got just under a month to work it out... I just hope I remember to do it!!

The third prompt was to write a letter to someone encouraging them to keep a diary/journal and the positives about doing it... I'll do that in a separate post as it could get long!! lol

I've just got back from meeting a wonderful friend!!

RL friends are great, aren't they! They are there for you through good times and bad!

I hope Chris realises how much I value his friendship... everyone should have a Chris in their life!

Thank you for being you Chris!!

My first assignment in WWAUW

I want to use this blog as an opportunity to write about my wonderful husband, Steven and it just so happens that it's my first assignment in an online community for women, called WWAUS too!

If you don't want to read my innermost feelings about Steven, then turn back now!!

This is just a short first post because I've just taken my pills so I'll be asleep soon! lol

Mr Steven John George I will love you for the rest of my life... you are almost perfect and I'm lucky to know you and be married to you!!
